Alice Springs

I did make it to Alice Springs and I have my luggage. At the moment, I’m at Haven Backpackers (= hostel). I can’t do the three-day Rock the Center tour, but I will see Uluru on Friday and see some neighbouring canyons and creeks tomorrow (Thursday).

Alice Springs is quite how I imagined it to be: an Aussie version of a typical western desert town. Rent Priscilla, Queen of the Desert or an US road movie to have an idea. Alice has 27,000 residents. In the region, that is a lot.

I had rain today. According to the bus driver, an Outback version of the surfer boy, Alice Springs has never been so green and moist.

It’s cool and moist here, but still very dry and warm. Don’t worry…

By the way. I’m in an odd time zone. It’s 1.5 hour behind Melbourne. It’s the first time I’m in a half time zone.

I suppose I won’t really have time to blog until during or after the weekend…
